Job description

To positively impact shipping and receiving functions for the logistics department by supervision, driving continue improvement and to ensure best practices are followed during the logistics process.

Direct and supervise Team Captains and co-workers on all shifts in the coordination of work activities including receiving, inventory control, finished goods and order fulfillment.  This also includes all logistics projects and special assignments assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.

Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.

Ensure that all inventory received, is properly counted, damage free and proper QA notifications are processed.

Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Responsible for overall warehouse for all shift.

Drive continuous improvements through lean and/or Five S practices: identify and implement initiatives.

Monitor any goods rejected and returned to the production department. (M3 – IN system location)

Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on Mobile Solutions, Extend, Movex, Cargo Wiz and ensure that Team Captains have been trained to handle the systems & equipment.

Drive continuous improvements through SWOP. Identify and implement initiatives.

Consistently follow the vision and values of IKEA.

Monitor Team Captains productivity, efficiency and accuracy identify, implement opportunities to increase and/or improve processes and procedures.

Establish individual goals for team members in alignment with overall organization goals and perform periodic performance reviews in coordination with the Supply Chain Manager to determine progress.

Qualification

High School diploma is required; 4-year degree preferred in Logistics or Supply Chain

Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years manufacturing and/or logistic experience.

APICS CPIM certification optional

Must have at least five years of experience in a team leadership environment.

Must have experience in material flow, inventory management and continuous improvement practices and process analysis.
