Job description


You are passionate about building technologies. You are service-and customer-oriented and you want to contribute to IKEA culture as a living and strong reality that values the diversity of customers and employees. You have an engineering degree (or equivalent university degree). You have work experience of several years in technical design of building, and you know the local construction market, its standards, rules and regulations, in knowing authorization process as much as cost factors. You master project management, from design to effective implementation, and you can also manage a technical risk analysis (Due Diligence). You have knowledge in sustainable building performance, including BREEAM and LEED labels, and the evaluation of low-impact building materials. You can draft all types of construction and design contracts (legal aspect). You are familiar with project management and design tools, and other common Office software. You want to innovate and find new solutions while considering sustainable development and business, and you encourage creative ideas and perspectives that add value. You are able to show leadership and adaptation, you have the ability to synthesize and analyze. You also understand the importance of stakeholder management even if you also can work independent. You are able to communicate with confidence and clarity in English and French (oral and written).


You will work as part of a team within the Construction team and will report to the Construction Manager, Cluster level. This position is located in Plaisir at the IKEA French Headquarters. International and national regular travels are required. As an Engineer you will support the construction activity within the cluster (France, Belgium and the Netherlands) in engineering, architecture and technical maintenance. You will manage the company risks by assessing and controlling risks in a business environment, specifically in public areas. Your role will be to, in whole Cluster: • Provide technical know-how based on current Ingka standards and national best practices to deliver real estate solutions: ? Safe, for all site stakeholders, ? In compliance with national safety and environmental standards, and IWAY ("IKEA Way of Working") standards, ? Sustainable, by managing the assessment of BREEAM and LEED labels, including the evaluation of low-impact building materials. ? And innovative, which meets the needs of business and the greatest number of people. • Evaluate the technical aspects of new constructions processes and monitor developments within engineering. • Lead and drive all engineering work into cluster and harmonize implementation and communication of these activities with all internal and external stakeholders, in current key areas of expertise: Structural and architectural design, Fire and risk engineering, HVAC systems and energy model, Electrical systems, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) & Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculations, Technical solutions and innovations for PPP and BREEAM, Design management: Procurement, Development and Coordination • Optimize, innovate and develop the best project methods for design-build up interaction, for investment budget and prevention of any gap • Support Construction Project Managers to: ? Clarify all Ingka requirements, standards and guidelines ? Manage the selection process for external consultants ? Ensure detailed architectural and technical design ? Negotiate alternative technical solutions in IKEA projects tender process ? Monitor the quality of design and construction work • Maintain and update the knowledge and understanding of all regulations, guidelines and initiatives issued by the Real Estate Group; ensure that they are communicated to Construction Project Managers and external partners as required • Cooperate with the cluster Facility department to develop best practices, obtain feedback and increase the technical knowledge of Facility staff. • Ensure that commissioning, testing, training and handover of technical and building systems are satisfactory for the cluster Facility staff.
