Store Design Architect – Group Expansion, Ingka Group

We believe that you have a background as a Commercial or Design Architect working with store design or equivalent. You have a Master’s degree in Architecture, with a minimum of 5 years of experience. You may also have multicultural experience and you have experience from working with expansion projects and major rebuilds.

You preferably have knowledge in the retail establishment process as well as initiating, planning and executing a project in a defined time frame. You are used to creating and implementing change initiatives and managing stakeholders. Finally, you have excellent knowledge of CAD and other drafting and presentation tools.

As a person you are able to apply knowledge of industry trends, outlooks and emerging technologies. You make a direct effort to achieve long-term sustainable profit on project level and you can work and perform with flexibility and simplicity. Communicating and presenting clearly comes naturally for you. You are open-minded with good self-leadership capabilities, strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to build trustful relationships. You are interested in team welfare and enjoy collaborating with others.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will be responsible for planning the exterior and interior design of the building for new Customer Meeting Points (CMP) or major rebuilds. You will also be responsible for providing markets with solutions adapting to local pre-requisites and regulations.

You will:
• design the outside of the CMP by ensuring a strong IKEA visual identity based on market input
• design the inside of the building according to the IKEA architecture conceptual solutions, being the preconditions for an efficient and effective commercial lay-out
• be responsible for the design of the store architecture while optimizing the main flows for high operation efficiency
• secure a low execution cost and take into account local specific regulations
• work with several CMP projects in parallel and with clearly defined time frames
• cooperate with the CMP Planning Manager who is the natural speaking partner towards architects, planning specialists and the market organisation
• drive an open and sharing climate, being a role model of the IKEA values

This role is based in Malmö and will report to the Customer Meeting Point Planning Manager. You will be a part of a team consisting of eight architects.

ABOUT THIS WORK AREA

With the customer at the heart of everything we do, Group Expansion takes responsibility for strategic expansion planning enabling penetration of existing and new markets. We take the lead for business development of existing and new customer meeting points. We act on business needs and empower the markets to maximise accessibility, implement our retailing concepts and fully utilise our assets in the new world of IKEA – all at lowest cost, with economy of scale and sustained profitability.
