About IPEX - IKEA Planning Experience
The goal of IPEX is to support and empower customers to find their personal best home furnishing solutions. We create great experiences enabling customers to design their homes by providing activities and tools harmonized across channels to give the customer reassurance and confidence, enabling them to proceed in their buying journey and make decisions, independent of the channel or platform being used.

About the Role
As Solution Architect, we expect you to bring all your knowledge and experience as developer, and use that when shaping solution architectures for IKEA’s planning experience applications. As Solution Architect, we do not primarily expect you to develop applications (although that can happen from time to time), but to lead and guide development teams, and in collaboration with our Business Analysts and User Experience specialists secure that applications are developed to meet our requirements.
In close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders shape ideas into concrete, robust and appropriate solution architectures and transition roadmaps for implementation.
Collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders (including suppliers) to improve solution architectures with learnings from best practices within software development and industry.
Lead solution architect activities within your assigned area.
Secure that the solution architecture reflects the requirements from many different stakeholders in the organisation
Communicate the solution architectures and transition roadmaps to relevant business and IT stakeholders within and across organisations. You will ensure understanding and alignment across the IKEA value chain.
Pro-actively identify and advise on opportunities (such as new technology) in order to deliver better business result.
Collaborate closely with IT suppliers, influence them with IKEA requirements and have a dialog about proposals to secure the best result for IKEA.
You are passionate about technology and appreciate the mix of strategic thinking and turning architecture trends and requirements into practice. You get energized by working interdependently in agile teams. You are the type of person that can manage to see the big picture as well as the details. You collaborate and communicate with you stakeholders to build trust and partnership in order to reach our common goals.
To be successful in this role you have proven training in information technology, computer science or equivalent and you have a minimum of 5 years of progressive and diverse experience as Software Engineer and Developer.
You bring deep understanding and experience of shaping solution architectures, combined with a understanding of the current and future digital technology trends, industry standards, architecture frameworks and modelling techniques. You know how to work in an Agile, DevOps working set-up and how to deliver cloud-based solutions.
You have experience in some of the following areas:
Extensive knowledge of designing and developing API/Micro services architectures.
Understanding of modern data architectures, data extract mechanisms, functional decomposition and business rules engines.
Experience from cloud technology platforms such as AWS and Azure.
Experience from working with WebGL or any native 3D framework.
Experience in 3D game development/optimization AR, VR or machine learning implementations is a merit.
Experience with agile development practices, in which requirements and solution evolve through the collaborative effort of self-organising cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage and communicate with senior business-leaders and Technology Leadership
