HEJ! (Swedish for Hi)

In IKEA, we are looking for passionate individuals who are excited about technology and innovative ways of working and want to be a part of shaping the future of IKEA!

Joining IKEA gives you an opportunity to take part in this truly unique and amazing company culture with values such as “togetherness”, “simplicity” and “caring for people and planet”. These values have been proven as strong and are underpinning and guiding us in our everyday work life, in discussions, decisions and activities. Combine this with our vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people” – for customers, but also for our co-workers and the people who work at our suppliers, means that you will work and thrive in a truly people (and planet) positive work environment.

“Entrepreneurship” is in our DNA, and it marries with our belief of the power in product focus and freedom or autonomy. We have a high focus on diversity. IKEA is us – it is you and me, co-workers from the many people, and we make IKEA unique! You will meet some incredible people here, very humble, supportive, and absolutely committed to lead home-furnishing retail into the future and to create a better life for more of the many people, by putting the customer at the heart of all we do.

Also, our leaders consistently ensure that our job is a part of having a great quality of life – We know, when people are happy, they do their best work.

We have set out to change almost everything and we need to change now! We are transforming a global iconic brand, which in itself is breath-taking, with a direct impact on each of the millions of customers visiting us in both the stores as well as the digital touchpoints, all over the world, every day.

In Payments within the Customer Domain, we want to enable all our customers to have a seamless payment experience. We want to achieve this by:

• Making payments feel frictionless, regardless of where and how it is done.

• Enabling our customer around the world to use their preferred payment methods.

• Setting high engineering standards which ensure that the systems we build are highly secure, scalable, and resilient.

• Experimenting with modern technologies, taking a data driven approach to continuous improvement

• Hypothesis testing to enrich our decisions.

To make all of this happen, you will be joining a team focusing on the pre-paid payments area where the opportunity is enormous, not only for IKEA but for you in terms of the challenges at scale that you will need to solve for a large successful iconic company.

In this role, you will report to an engineering manager in the Payments capability area. Malmö/ Helsingborg office in Sweden will be your home location.

You love coding. You have a curious nature and actively acquire new knowledge, skills, champion new methods, digital systems and processes to improve performance. Doing so, this will enable you to change direction based on new ideas, approaches and strategies. You will be empowered to work agile and with continuous improvements within the software engineering function. To achieve our common goals we encourage simplicity, efficiency, ownership and accountability.

You also:

• Have a proven track-record of delivering high quality services using JVM based languages.

• Comfortable building web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Have experience designing secure, scalable and resilient systems.

• Are familiar with cloud computing platforms (preferably GCP, but AWS or Azure experience is great too!).

• Have used deployment automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.

• Embrace modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics.

• Want to grow in an inclusive engineering culture based on DevOps principles.

• Highly collaborative working within your team and across teams.

• Enjoy mentoring and growing engineers around you.

• Are passionate about customers and champion their needs.

• Know what it is to build, own, and operate services.

• Have great written and verbal communication skills.

• Payment knowledge is a strong advantage, but not a deal-breaker.

Most companies will try to entice you with amazing salaries and an awesome office location. We have all of that, but that is not the main dish, that is just the entree. As the main course, we want to constantly challenge you and the impact you as an engineer will have on:

• A direct impact on the lives of the many people. With us, you will be challenged to create scalable solutions that have direct customer impact. Not only for our customers but our colleagues worldwide.

• A smile, on every customer's face, when they receive the product they wanted, in the way they wanted to pay.

• A challenging work environment, where technical excellence and collaboration are key, and fun is a must.

• Continuous learning with our 80/20 rule. 80% working on a product 20% working on yourself. We will provide you with Coursera and Pluralsight accounts.
