Malmö, Skåne County Marketing & Communication Intern

Job description


We are looking for a Strategic Communications student to work within our PR & Media Relations team, with a focus on external communications. As an intern you’ll be able to work hands on with content creation, I.e. assisting with articles in the newsroom, media pitches, and Media on Duty (MOD) requests. For the position you need to have a strong passion for external communications, the ability to analyze the external environment, and the desire to enable better Public and Media Relations’ execution. In particular:
• Experience in writing and editing documents in English, in all required formats
• The ability to story tell and writing compelling articles that paint a story
• Passion for news, journalistic work and the ability to identify a good story
• The ability to create processes, work on communication plans and strategies
• Understanding of the evolving media landscape, social and digital trends that are affecting IKEA externally
• Knowledgeable of social media platforms and how they work
• Proficient with IT systems, in particular Microsoft Office
• Inspired by a fast-paced environment and the ability to work with ambiguity
• Organized and confident to work both independently and as part of a team
• Solution oriented mindset


• Assist in creating content for various external communication outcomes. This entails to write, collaborate on, and edit texts for news articles, feature stories, and others
• To assist with both planned, unplanned, and crisis communication materials
• Identifying proactive media opportunities as well as to help measure results
• Assist in preparing material for media and spokespeople training
• Assist in the Media On Duty Press Office (MOD), assisting the MOD Officer with research and information gathering efforts


The purpose is to enable business transformation, secure corporate communication outcomes and ultimately enable IKEA’s profitable growth and independence through operational excellence.


The internship position will be based at the global Ingka Group offices, based in Malmö, Hubhult.
Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant program (preferably prior to the final year of studies) or be a recent graduate (within the last 6 months). This is an unpaid internship, with an expected 24 hours of work a week. Note that the duration may be adjusted due to agreement between the intern and the designated supervisor.
