•    Possess a 4 year degree, are a Licensed Customs In-house Broker or Certified Compliance Specialist or Customs Specialist 
•    10 years of experience demonstrating application of knowledge in an operational and compliance environment within a supply chain
•    Have the knowledge of government regulations, Customs, International Business and Import compliance for US and Canada
•    Demonstrate a strong negotiation, analytical, investigative and interpersonal skills
•    Have the ability to influence outcomes by working with all organizational levels
•    Are willing to travel internationally 25%

ABOUT THE JOB
The Regional Customs Manager is responsible for leading business and People together in the Regional Customs and Compliance organization. This encompasses the development of strategies and processes that are aligned with the overall IKEA Supply Chain objectives and within the IKEA culture and values.  

As the Manager in this role and as the expert in customs and trade compliance you will secure internal and external stake holder management and the resources necessary for the efficiency, competence, timely clearance and compliance of the import and export activities within the Americas region. In addition, you will secure compliance and adherence to all internal rules and external import and export regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include monitoring regulatory changes, legislations and permissions, communicating such changes to appropriate persons within IKEA and facilitating a change management process to ensure compliance to changes. 

Your main tasks will include: 
•    Lead and develop the regional organization and people in accordance with IKEA culture and values.
•    Take an active part in developing the global import and export process including the establishment of one common business plan.
•    Develop and anchor regional and local action plans aligned with IKEA supply chain strategies and global Customs business plan. 
•    Define, anchor and follow up the regional customs budget as part of the global budget.
•    Follow up the performance in the region via agreed KPI’s and act on poor performance.
•    Continuously evaluate current ways of working, identify control weaknesses, and develop solutions, standardized, optimized ways of working while implementing improvements.
•    Monitor the regional compliance state and act on deviations.
•    Prepare for, monitor and control external customs related audits in agreement with global Customs Manager.
•    Take active part in the development and maintenance of the IT system landscape and support the integration in execution and planning on a regional level.
•    Secure the existence of up-to-date import and export permissions and identify need and support application procedures for new permissions and certifications.
•    Evaluate, propose and implement regional customs & trade related solutions that impact efficiencies and costs; such as the use free trade zones or free trade agreements. 
•    Handle the interface and accountability towards customs brokers/agents where applicable.
•    Provide up to date information and impact statements to internal IKEA supply chain partners regarding new or modified customs and trade related legislations, administrations, permissions and requirements.
•    Proactively support strategic local and global goals via legislation, government administration activities and trade associations.
