IKEA Indirect Material and Services (IKEA IMS), established in 2004, is a global organisation with the task to purchase and supply non-home furnishing products and services for IKEA. IKEA IMS takes part in the overall supplying process and plays an important role in supporting existing and new stores. We are more than 400 co-workers worldwide that contribute to the IKEA vision “Creating a better everyday life for the many people”. We have site offices in Älmhult, Helsingborg, Philadelphia, Wiesbaden and Shanghai. IKEA IMS is represented in most countries where IKEA operates.


About the job:
As you are purchaser you will contribute to the development and execution of the Category / market action plan by:
  • Secure compliance of the IKEA IMS purchase process
  • Building long term supplier partnerships and drive supplier performance
  • Involving relevant business partners to identify business needs and opportunities.



More information about your tasks:

  • Take fully responsibility for following and securing the IKEA IMS purchase process end-to-end and secure compliance of IWAY, Code of Conduct & business ethics.
  • Responsible for building long term partnerships through IKEA way of doing business, based on shared business model, trust & transparency.
  • Responsible for supplier performance by professionally challenge suppliers to constantly improve all aspects of supplier performance and lead Supplier Development Process (SDP) when applicable.
  • Act according to IKEA values do business with Fact-based Business Leadership.
  • Understands the goals, business priorities and follow through on commitments and achieves results in line with the IKEA vision and values
  • Performs and develops in current business assignment and projects
  • Communicates in a straightforward and inclusive manner and listens actively to gain information
  • Co-operates with team members in other and own units to accomplish common goals
  • Seeks opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrates willingness and contributes to change by taking necessary actions and adapt to new circumstances

Your main area of responsibility will be IKEA’s APAC markets, i.e. Australia, China, India, Japan & South Korea. You will report to the Category Manager, Media & MarTech based in Malmö, Sweden. You will be based at our office in Shanghai. You will work in different locations so travelling will be part of your day to day working life.


It is essential that you have:

You have several years of experience in indirect purchasing. As a person you are driven, with a strong business mind-set and openness to change management. To look for new possibilities and improving our way of working comes natural to you. You have both cooperation and communication skills. You work in a global environment and we assume you are fluent in English, both written and verbal and you have the ability to travel.

The position is full time with 1-year contract.
