The role of IKEA Purchasing & Logistics is to buy, produce and distribute the IKEA range at the lowest total cost, making high quality available to the customer under good social and environmental conditions. Purchasing & Logistics Area North (PLAN) is one of 8 Purchasing & Logistics Areas in the world, and our co-workers are based in Älmhult, Dortmund and Kaunas. PLAN consists of several functions, such as Purchasing Development, Transport, Customs Service Centre, Quality Support Centre and Warehousing Logistics.
Support business teams in the development of their action plans to meet the Forestry and Wood Supply goals and priorities.
Provide support, training and assistance to suppliers and co-workers in forestry and wood supply requirements.
Work with business teams and suppliers to identify and eliminate forestry related risk from the supply chain.
Support business teams in assessment of potential new suppliers and supply chains to comply with IKEA requirements.
Support suppliers in their implementation of Forestry standards and wood procurement routines and making it integral part of their management systems.
Plan and perform Initial Forestry Assessments, Forestry and Supply Chain audits and follow up audit results and report.
Together with Global Forestry Manager develop and manage forestry projects with external partners.
Create motivation and inspire suppliers and business teams to continuously identify the wood supply and Forestry related business opportunities.
Support business teams with the forest tracing survey (FTS).
Collect, analyse and make available for IKEA the information about forest resources, forest legislation, forest industry and stakeholders, prices etc, contribute to the market intelligence report.
Establish and maintain relations with forestry authorities, relevant local NGO’s and other relevant stakeholders.
Position requires travelling up to 50% of working time.
At least 5 years in Forestry and /or wood industry and related degree (Forestry or Wood Technology);
Speaking English and German (fluently - both written and verbal), other European language will be an advantage
Good understanding of the local and national legislation in forestry related areas;
Good understanding of forest management, timber trade and wood processing;
Knowledge of Forest management and Chain of Custody certification;
Knowledge of furniture value chain organization and processes, understanding of cost drivers across value chain;
Self-driven with a “hands on” approach to his/her/team work;
Analytical, methodical, well-structured and able to make, present and argue his/her judgement;
Willingness and ability to share knowledge with other co-workers,
Desire to find and implement sustainable solutions into the business;
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, assertive.
