About the job
In the New Business Function, located in the Purchasing & Logistic Area Americas, we aim to contribute the business by identifying market and business opportunities and act on new business assignments in existing and new sourcing markets, transforming these opportunities and assignments into products and ranges- for the many people.
Being the Production Engineer, you will lead the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve the customer satisfaction. You are the main contact towards the suppliers and work as part of the business team together with the supplier to develop and secure the production process, handling of quality deviations, and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements.
About the assignment
The Production Engineer is responsible for Quality Assurance including to secure process control for key processes in production. Among other things, you:
Perform Product audits and production risk assessments at suppliers.
Lead the Supplier Development for quality and manufacturing with responsibility to identify and implement actions and execution projects.
Lead industrialization of minor news development and contribute with competence to other news developments.
Evaluate potential new supplier’s production facilities and quality systems.
You are eager to actively search for information and continuously learn from good examples and mistakes. You have a sense of urgency and a never compromise attitude towards quality. Additionally, you:
Have the interest and drive to build trust and partnership to reach common goals.
Result oriented, high energy, entrepreneur spirit and self-driven ways of working to deliver better products for the many people by working together in IKEA and suppliers.
Have knowledge of Six sigma and Lean production methods and tools.
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally is required (up to 50%).
Knowledge and experience in the Metal industry and production is preferred.
Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
Effective communication skills. Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and to work with diverse stakeholders portfolio
Must be fluent in English (both written and verbal).
Fluent in Spanish is a plus for this position.
Project Management skills or experience leading complex projects are a plus.
