WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Software Engineer in IKEA's innovative Customer Domain, you will have the rewarding opportunity to contribute to high-performing teams, evolving strategic solutions to support the IKEA US digital experience. The IKEA Customer Domain works to improve the product availability experience, ensuring customers can easily find what they need online and in-store. In addition, we are creating a foundation for a future-proofed checkout experience across all channels and providing home furnishing help for customers throughout the IKEA shopping journey.

Software Engineers work with all stakeholders in the customer domain, including operations, engineering, product, business partners, senior leadership, and global stakeholders. In addition, you will be a part of an exciting development methodology supporting IKEA to rethink the very core of how we develop our products and services.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
• Development of high-quality (software) code that has been tested and is ready to be shipped applying and using good practices and agreed standards
• Development of high-quality software design and architecture
• Work in agile teams across the capability areas, contributing to the development and maintenance of products and solutions.
• Apply and adhere to sound software engineering practices (e.g., DRY principles, continuous integration, automated tests, pair programming, code reviews) within an agile/iterative development approach, including validation and verification testing
• Ensure good understanding of each user story and the expected outcome, asking for further detail when required
• Contributing to the continuous development of standards against which software development should take place as well as exploring and bringing in new technologies to boost innovation and development productivity
• Support the common Digital Unit site on standards and methods when necessary to ensure alignment across the Digital Unit

Qualifications:
• At least 2+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer/Developer
• A curiosity and passion for constantly learning new things, solving challenging problems, and working in a diverse team environment
• Experience building web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React (preferred), Redux, Ractive, Ember, or Angular
• Experience with responsive and mobile design, as well as cross-browser development and testing
• Experience with consuming RESTful/GraphQL services and APIs
• Comfortable managing source code using git (Github)
• Knowledge of tracking and analytics pixel implementations (Google Analytics)
• Experience in working in an Agile methodology
• Collaborates with others (incl. virtual) to achieve goals
