JOB TITLE / FUNCTION: IKEA Food Coworker, Swedish Food Market & Bistro
REPORTS TO: Commercial SFM & Bistro Manager

  • Provide friendly, helpful and efficient service to each customer and follow IKEA’s 8 Steps (guidelines) to Good Food Service.
  • I strive towards making people smile while providing irresistible food offers in a welcoming atmosphere that gives our customers a good reason to return. I focus on our customers and seek (and act on) feedback.
  • Perform department specific routines to ensure the cash area, condiment table, dining room & all other customer areas are maintained to IKEA standard.
  • Advise customers about the menu, food product content and the services available in the Restaurant and throughout the store.
  • Follow proper cash handling procedures as outlined in the IKEA Risk Manual.
  • Ensure your uniform is clean, neat and meets both IKEA and the Health/Safety guidelines.
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA Culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of coworkers and customers.
  • Assume responsibility for other tasks and projects as they occur.
  • I help and support colleagues when needed and I share my knowledge with them and encourage them to do the same.
  • I value my colleagues’ ways of working and I learn from those who work differently to me.
  • I take an active role in my team and co-operate when appropriate with colleagues in other area of the store.
  • I keep myself informed so that I can perform effectively.
  • I complywithand follow internal rules, policies and dailyoperational routinesregarding issues such as quality, food safetyand stockfiguresassetby my manager.
  • I am responsible for my own development and look to my manager to support me in my development.
  • I comply with and follow internal rules, policies and daily operational routines regarding issues like quality, food safety and stock figures as set by my manager.
  • Safety is a top priority and I and take action and raise and discuss concerns with a manager as needed.
  • I ensure any food incident, or potential incident, is reported and I inform the duty manager.

You Have/Are:
  • Previous service environment experience, ideally sales or hospitality is preferred;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • I am hungry for knowledge and want to increase my skills and learning, using this to benefit IKEA and grow personally;
  • I am motivated and inspired by the IKEA values;
  • I am sales-driven and passionate about food and people;
  • I am service-minded and always keep the customer in focus;

  • Interest in culinary or food service industry;
  • Computer aptitude;
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. (22.7 kg);
  • Please note that our cash-handling co-workers are required to be of age of majority;
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
