IKEA KOREA, DongBusan Store

Our first IKEA store in Korea opened in December 2014 successfully and our second store in October 2017. We strongly believe that a happier life starts at home and we have an exciting expansion plan in front of us. We are still in the beginning of establishing IKEA in Korea, developing the brand and building a strong long term positioning.

Our plan is to open our forth store in Korea2020 and we are very much looking forward to establish a multichannel business for the many people!

Store #4 will be located in Busan city, the second largest port city in Korea.

About the job (your work & tasks):

In your role asStore Opening Operation Support, you will be a strong contributor to the store opening support team. Implement the set activities and events for the opening campaigns aligned with the country marketing strategy for the openings. This role contributes to a successful opening of the new stores supporting the Store opening project leader and the store opening support team. This role will be responsible for operation of the opening activities under the leadership of the Store opening project leader.


This is temporary assignment for 1 yearsupporting new store opening campaign, you may expect some additional tasks related to the general Marketing or Sales department scope – and within the planned lean IKEA organization, a high level of flexibility, cooperation and mutual support will be required.

More information about your tasks

  • Work together with the Store opening project leader and the store opening support team to implement and execute the opening campaign activities from operation point of view
  • Co-ordinate with the store team for securing the products and filling up the stock for events and make sure that the time schedule is kept
  • Arrange transportation vendors for pickup and off-loading products at the sites
  • Co-ordinate with the food vendor and IKEA food for planned food items
  • Co-ordinate the operational part with relevant internal teams and the external event agency
  • Arrange internal and external storage when necessary and be responsible for the administration of it
  • Co-ordinate with com&in regarding assembly, build-up and demolition of the furniture, room sets etc.
  • Secure security setup and security routines at the event sites aligned with the safety&security team
  • Secure safety and set up safety routines of co-workers and visitors to the event site
  • Secure and administer hygiene related issues for the events
  • Support with licenses and permits for the opening events
  • Be the main contact person for local authorities for opening events
  • Administration of risk compliance with the risk team
  • Support planning and executing the routes for the moving truck
  • Administration and execution of the daily events in the popup, moving truck etc. together with the opening support team
  • Be the “duty” responsible during the operation hours of the opening events

  • Working knowledge of developing marketing communication campaigns.
  • Retail and/or home furnishing experience.
  • Experience of working with communications
  • Experience of working with events
