Job description


As a department manager IKEA Food – Kitchen Production, you will form a partnership with another manager with whom you will take in charge the direct responsibility of the Kitchen Production team (± 20 co-workers) and you will report to the IKEA Food Manager.
It’s all about attracting visitors to the stores, encouraging IKEA store visitors to stay longer and enjoy their visit more, making it fun for everyone, offering great food with quality at the lowest prices, giving visitors a tasty reason to return again and again, and providing them with a chance to rest and re-charge. By doing this, IKEA Food supports the IKEA store in selling more IKEA home furnishing products.


You convert the store business plan into a clear action plan for your department and implement the different actions. In this way you contribute to position the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market.

You anticipate IKEA Food activity and plan the necessary resources for the restaurant.

You guarantee the setup, follow up and optimization of key performance indicators, in order to have a high level of client service.

You structure the restaurant processes to achieve a fluid service.

You recruit, develop and lead your team by encouraging open, constructive and honest two-way feedback.

You inspire, motivate and engage your team fully in reaching goals and generating growth and long-term profitability.

You provide irresistible, qualitative, tasty food offers in the most efficient way.

You are responsible to produce and serve food in accordance with IKEA Quality standards, Food Safety requirements and HACCP legislation.

You contribute to IKEA’s commitments: sustainable development through your actions, through the team and through client ’s awareness.

You create awareness of IKEA Food as the most important in-store marketing tool for maximising the IKEA store’s sales potential.


You have an interest in home furnishing and people’s everyday life at home.

You have several years of leadership experience and enjoy working with people.

You have a proven record as a problem-solver and decision-maker who excels in a fast-paced retail environment.

You have an eye for commercial opportunities to attract more visitors to the store.

You are able to communicate to your team about how IKEA Food contributes to the overall store performance.

You challenge your team and yourself to exceed customer expectations and to continuously seek ways to improve our way of working.

You get energized by the IKEA values and they are a reflection of your own values.

You are modest, open and honest in your collaboration with others.

You speak and write fluently (one of) the regional languages of the store and have a good knowledge of English.

You are willing to take a day off during the week to work Saturdays.
