About this work area

In Payments, we want to enable more customers to have a seamless payment experience. We want to achieve that by:

•Trying new technologies;

•Hypothesis testing to enrich our decisions;

•Providing customers with their preferred way of paying;

•Making payments feel frictionless.

To achieve that, we must lay a strong foundation that will allow us to grow steadily and fast. We also want to provide an easy-to-use platform and tools to our co-workers to deal with a complex payment environment. That includes:

•Improving reconciliation;

•Simple-to-use refund tooling;

•Reporting and analytics.

In this role, you will report to the engineering manager in the Sales & Payments capability area. The Amsterdam office in the Netherlands will be your home location.

Do you have these essentials?

•Have a proven track record of delivering high-quality code and are passionate about continuous improvement and delivery.

•Have experience designing scalable, resilient and testable systems.

•Are familiar with cloud computing platforms (preferably GCP).

•Have used deployment automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.

•Embrace modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics.

•Want to contribute to an engineering culture based on DevOps principles.

•Are passionate about customers and champion their needs.

•Enjoy mentoring and growing engineers around you.

•Have great written and verbal communication skills.

Do you have these desirables?

•Experience with Java or other JVM-based languages.

•Experience working in ecommerce and online payments.

•Some basic front-end experience and have used JavaScript and React.
