Purchasing Development is a business unit within IKEA Supply, with a global organisation consisting of 9 Category Areas (for Home Furnishing, Food and Indirect Materials & Services), Wood Supply & Forestry, Business Development Project Office and a number of Business Partners.
Wood is the material most associated with our IKEA brand and is an essential part of our design heritage. Responsibly sourced wood is an excellent material from a design, quality and environmental perspective. Wood Supply and Forestry, part of Purchase Development in IKEA Supply, is responsible for ensuring that all wood sourced in IKEA products is firstly sourced in a responsible way and then optimised in the best way throughout our supply chain.
Wood Supply & Forestry is a global function for delivering strategic as well as operational business support to our business owners, securing "everyday access to responsibly produced wood at lowest cost".
This is executed by leading projects, supporting, coaching and following up our business units but also providing suggestions on developments and improvements to our processes and material usage based on innovations available on the market.
As Wood Supply Manager you are leading the agenda on wood processing efficiency and productivity. You are also managing the team of approximately 4 colleagues based in different parts of the world. They are specialists within their own field. You also lead the matrix for the wood specialists that are situated in 4 regions around the world. Leading competence sharing and the implementation of best practices between regions, categories and industries to optimize process efficiency in total IKEA.
The role of Wood Supply Manager also consists of:
Secure world class wood processing competence in Purchase development
Steer, initiate and lead projects within the value-chain from forest to components
Analyse existing processing units and identify efficiency gaps
Lead the benchmark work on processing capacities and costs

To succeed in this role you have a good understanding and experience from the Forest and Wood Industry sector.
You like to stay updated on new innovations within the field of forestry and wood technologies as well as you like to identify business opportunities and to create, develop and anchor business cases. You have excellent communication and people skills combined with tact and diplomacy, and you have a strong ability to work closely - and building strong relationships - with senior leaders as well as to influence and challenge in a constructive and professional way, always with a positive twist.
You have analytical and problem solving skills and you deliver results through involving and engaging people, who may be in remote locations, and you adapt your leadership approach to specific situations and individuals.
