Do you want to shape the future of Comfort for the many people? Join our team to define what comfort is about. Create technical solutions to achieve products that take comfort to a new level and iterate the design with structural analysis and real-life testing.
The IKEA product range is designed to be functional, great looking, affordable, of good quality and sustainable. This is what we call Democratic Design and it´s a true team effort to make it happen! Our development teams consist of many different roles, such as Technical Project Leader, Requirement Specialist, Designer etc. And this is where you as a Finite Element Analysis Engineer (FEA Engineer) come into the picture as well!
What is the role all about?
The FEA Engineer is an important player in the team, with responsibility to work with product development. This is not just a way of saying. It´s about getting high quality products at low cost to the market in a more efficient way, by optimize designs, predicting product performance and validate behavior of virtual prototypes during product development.
The FEA Engineer use structural linear or nonlinear and dynamics analysis to predict product and furniture behavior. You will also from a decided design volume, apply loads and boundaries and create the optimal design from a solid dynamic or stiffness perspective. You will establish and validate material models and parameters needed for FEA and together with the development team verify calculation and simulation results with real product tests. In your work you will use different CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools, such as LS-Dyna and Hyperworks. Furthermore, you will create test methods including load cases, boundaries and safety factors that fulfil the needs in a reliable and fact-based way. You will work closely with the engineers in the product development teams, as well as have a close dialogue with external partners. It will be a highly rewarding work. And yes, it will be a lot of fun!
